Chennai: Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Padmavati’ has been facing protests and violence ever since it was announced. The entire Bollywood fraternity came forward in support of the filmmaker and actress Deepika Padukone, who are receiving death threats. Recently, superstar Kamal Haasan broke his silence over the controversies against the flick and condemned these threats issued against Bhansali and the ‘Cocktail’ actress.
Haasan expressed his views on his social networking page. He wrote, “I want Ms. Deepika’s head.. saved. Respect it more than her body. Even more her freedom. Do not deny her that. Many communities have opposed my films. Extremism in any debate is deplorable. Wake up cerebral India. Time to think. We’ve said enough. Listen Ma Bharat.”
Many Hindu groups are protesting against ‘Padmavati’ alleging that there are romantic scenes between Queen Padmini and Alauddin Khilji. These groups are also seeking ban on the flick.
The release of ‘Padmavati’ has been delayed after a bounty of $ 1.5 million was announced by the politician of India’s governing party for the heads of Deepika and Bhansali.
