Now Rajput women community warns Sanjay Leela Bhansali against release of ‘Padmaavat’

Mumbai: Despite Supreme Court and CBFC’s green signal to ‘Padmaavat’, Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s period drama remains embroiled in controversy ahead of its release.

According to reports, women from the Rajput community warned Bhansali that he would have to commit jauhar (self immolation) if ‘Padmaavat’ is allowed to release.

“We respect the Supreme Court order but we feel it’s one-sided. We will file a petition in court and also meet the President with our version on the matter,” the community members were quoted saying at a press conference on Thursday.

“We are fighting for our dignity and our history,” said a senior member of the Rajput community.

As per sources, they want to resolve the issue peacefully hence they want government to intervene in the matter.

Recently, members of Karni Sena approached the apex court, seeking a complete ban on the film.

After Supreme Court and Central Board of Film Certification’s (CBFC) nod, ‘Padmaavat’ is scheduled to release on January 25. The movie stars Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh and Shahid Kapoor.
