Padmavati Controversy: Rajput Karni Sena Threatens to Cut Deepika Padukone’s Nose

Mumbai: After Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Rajput Karni Sena has now targeted Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone, who is playing the role of Rani Padmini in Padmavati.

As per sources, president of Rajput Karni Sena Rajasthan unit, Mahipal Singh Makrana has said that he will cut off Deepika’s nose like Shurpanakha.

“Rajputs never raise a hand on women but if need be, we will do to Deepika what Lakshman did to Shurpanakha,” said Makrana.

On the other hand, Karni Sena members have also threatened Bhansali to behead if he will release the movie. Meanwhile, Lokendra Singh Kalvi, convenor of the group has said that they will call for Bharat Band on December 1, the date ‘Padmavati’ is scheduled to release.

Slamming Deepika for her comment that the country is becoming regressive, Kalvi said, “The country is not regressing, you are making it so. With folded hands, I beg Deepika not to insult women… Deepika is dancing in the film. Yes, dance, but why are you dancing with less clothing? How are you trying to portray Indian women?” he asked.

Not just that Kalvi also threatened Bhansali’s family. “My question is, why name this film Padmavati? Go and name it Leela Ek Gujarati. We will not spare the family of Bhansali because he has insulted our mother Padmavati,” he said.

According to reports, apart from Rajput Karni Sena, several other groups are protesting against ‘Padmavati’.

Sources say that more than 500 people including members of Rajput Karni Sena and other right-wing groups marched from Bengaluru’s Town Hall to Freedom Park with flags and banners, seeking a ban on the release of ‘Padmavati’.
