Akshay Kumar’s ‘PadMan’ opens well at the box office

Mumbai: Akshay Kumar starrer ‘PadMan’ has opened to a decent response at the box office. Directed by R Balki and produced by Twinkle Khanna under her home banner Mrs Funny Bones Productions, the film also stars Sonam Kapoor and Radhika Apte in pivotal roles.

The film has earned Rs 10. 26 crore on its first day.

Renowned film critic Taran Adarsh wrote, #PadMan has a DECENT start… Fri ₹ 10.26 cr… The biz, expectedly, picked up towards evening/night shows… The journey ahead is crucial… Sat + Sun should witness strong growth for a good weekend total… India biz.

He, however, hoped that the collections will only pick up in the days to come.

‘PadMan’ is based on the story of Arunachalam Muruganantham, inventor of low-cost sanitary napkins for women in rural areas.
