Mumbai: Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh and Shahid Kapoor starrer Padmavat’s box office collection is increasing at a rapid pace.
The film has minted more than Rs 150 crore in its opening week in India despite not releasing in some states.
Helmed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, ‘Padmaavat’ released on January 25 and received positive response at the box office. The period drama entered the 100 crore club in just four days of its release and collected Rs 4 core in the paid previews.
The film has lost around 27% of the business over the eight days due to exhibitors in some states refusing to screen the film.
As per trade experts, the film would have minted Rs 215 crore if it was released across the country.
Based on 16th century poet Malik Muhammad Jayasi’s poem, Padmaavat caught in a row after Shri Rajput Karni Sena and other Hindu groups stages protest, accusing the director of distorting the history.
