Mumbai: Filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s much-awaited project ‘Padmavati’ has run into fresh trouble. The makers are forced to postpone the film’s release date due to some political reasons.
‘Padmavati’ has been facing issues since it was announced. If sources are to be believed, the movie is slated to release on December 1 but the makers are now being forced to postpone the release date.
“The assembly elections in Gujarat are on December 9 and 14, and the results will be out on December 18. The police force will be on election duty. Also, the ruling party fears losing support from the right-wing groups that are morally opposed to the film. Though an official communication hasn’t gone to the producers, they have been intimated that the party wants the film to be delayed,” a source told a leading publication.
According to reports, the makers are trying to release the movie as scheduled.
Despite Bhansali releasing an official statement that ‘Padmavati’ does not bear any sort of romantic relationship between Alauddin Khilji and Rani Padmavati, Rajput Karni Sena and other groups protested against the movie.
On Wednesday, Bhansali shared a video message to clarify that there is no dream sequence between Deepika Padukone’s character Rani Padmini and Ranveer Singh’s character Alauddin Khilji in the movie.
Padmavati stars Deepika Padukone, Shahid Kapoor and Ranveer Singh in pivotal roles.
